When you create an account and use HerdUs, we collect:
- Account information: your email address and password (handled securely via Firebase Authentication; we never see or store your raw password ourselves).
- Profile information: a display name and optional bio that you provide, and can edit at any time.
- Calendar and availability information: events and busy blocks you create in the app, used to calculate shared free time within your groups.
- Group and friend information: the groups you create or join, and your friend connections with other users.
We do not collect location data, contacts from your device, or any information beyond what you directly provide by using the app's features.
How We Use Your Information
Your information is used solely to power the app's core functionality:
- Showing your groups' shared availability so you can plan get-togethers.
- Displaying your display name, bio, and busy blocks to the other members of groups you belong to.
- Connecting you with friends you've added, and enabling group invitations.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties for marketing purposes.
Who Can See Your Information
- Your display name, bio, and busy blocks are visible to members of any group you belong to — that visibility is the core purpose of the app.
- Your email address is not shown to other users; only your display name is.
- Friend requests and friend lists are visible only to you and the other party involved.
Third-Party Services
HerdUs is built on Firebase (a Google service), which provides authentication and stores app data on our behalf. Firebase's own privacy practices are described at Google's Privacy Policy. We do not use any advertising networks or analytics services that track you across other apps or websites.
Data Retention and Deletion
You can delete your account at any time directly in the app — this permanently removes your account, profile, groups you own, group memberships, busy blocks, events, and friend connections. You can also request account or data deletion by contacting us at hello@herdusapp.com.
Children's Privacy
HerdUs is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected with an updated "Last updated" date above.
